Laminate: Before You Buy
Before you dive in and buy any laminate, here are a few important things to consider:
- Plank thickness: Laminate flooring comes in a number of thicknesses. Our range is 7mm -12mm thick, ensuring that the finished floor is sturdy. Additionally, thicker laminate has better impact resistance and feels warmer underfoot. A better result all-round.
- Plank size: Plank size can be an important factor for the overall, finished look of your room. Top tip coming-up – For larger floor areas, using wider planked laminate will make the room seem larger than it is, whilst for smaller spaces, using smaller/narrower boards will increase the feeling of space.
- Locking system: In order to avoid the risk of gaps appearing in your floor, it is essential to use a good quality locking system. This will stop your finished floor from moving unnecessarily. A poor quality locking system is one of the biggest pitfalls when going the DIY route. It really shows!
- Accessories: Ensuring that your all round finish is perfect is important. Choose a brand that offers a variety of matching finishing accessories. We’re talking about colour matching scotia, skirting to stair nosings, pipe and radiator rings.
